Choosing a bank

The banking network in Poland is quite well organized, particularly in big cities. The National Bank of Poland is the central bank and provides information on the banking and financial sector, including a full list of the banks in the country.


Major commercial banks include:
PKO Bank Polski
Bank BPH
Bank Millennium

Opening a bank account
To open a bank account in Poland, you have to present a valid passport (some banks require an additional document with a photo, e.g. a driver's licence) and a document certifying that you are a student. You can also get money directly from the account in your home country through a cash machine.
You can open a personal bank account in Polish or foreign currency.
