Yesterday, (16th January) at least 65 people were killed in front of the Mustansirja University in Baghdad, many of them female students.

nother 140 persons were injured. The course of events is still vague, some policemen say that two car bombs had detonated. Others however claim that it was a suicide bomber. What is certain is that the moment was well chosen, as the lectures had just finished and the students and professors were about to head home. The attack on the students shows the signature of Sunnite insurgents, and prime minister Maliki assumes an act of revenge for the execution of Barsan al-Tikriti, the half-brother of Saddam Hussein. The 16th of January is one of the bloodiest days in weeks.
